Laser Hair Removal Science.jpeg

Let's talk Science

Laser hair removal operates on the principle of selective photothermolysis. The specialised wavelengths emitted by the Tri-Wave system are absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles, converting the light energy into heat. This heat damages the follicles, hindering their ability to regrow hair without affecting the surrounding skin.

The three wavelengths in Tri-Wave Laser Hair Removal (Alexandrite, Diode and ND:Yag) work synergistically to target hair at various stages of growth, ensuring optimal results. This advanced technology not only enhances precision but also allows for effective treatment on different skin tones, making it a versatile and inclusive solution.

Frequently Asked Questions for Medical Grade Laser Hair Removal

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is an ideal candidate for Tri-Wave Laser Hair Removal?
Tri-Wave technology is suitable for most skin types and hair colors. However, individuals with light or grey hairs may experience less effective results.

Can I have a treatment on my first visit?

No. A patch test and full consultation must be carried out on your first visit. Once we ascertain that you are suitable and we see that you have no adverse reaction, then we can proceed with your course of treatments.

How many treatments will I need?

Hair grows in cycles, anagen (growth stage), catagen (resting stage) and telagen (shedding stage). We can only destroy follicles in the anagen stage and so several treatments are needed to destroy all follicles in any particular area. Everyone is different but typically around 6 - 8 treatments are needed for a good result.

What areas can I have treated?

Pretty much any area of the body can be treated apart from the inside of your ears, nostrils and the area within the orbit of the eye.

There is no judgement and no need to be nervous. This is something we do day in and day out, you are in a safe space.

Can you treat all skin colours and hair types?

Almost every hair and skin type can be treated. We can treat Fitzpatrick scale 1-5. Grey/white hair has no melanin so it is not suitable for the treatment.

How long does it take?

Treatments typically take between 10 and 60 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated.

Does it hurt?

No. Our advanced Laser Hair Technology is virtually painless.

What are the side effects?

Following treatment the area may be red and the hair follicles may be swollen, but this usually subsides within a few hours. Adverse reactions are very rare but may include blistering or a temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

Can i have Laser Hair removal is if am pregnant?
As a precaution, it’s recommended to avoid the procedure during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to limited research on the potential effects.
